Indian-origin entrepreneur and film producer Anita Verma-Lallian is back in the spotlight with a high-stakes real estate transaction that’s turning heads in both business and tech circles. The US-based tycoon has finalised a major land acquisition deal valued at $51 million (approximately Rs 428.4 crore), paving the way for a potential data centre development in the US.

The deal, brokered through her firm Arizona Land Consulting (ALC), includes the purchase of 2,100 acres (about 850 hectares) of strategically located land west of Phoenix. With access to a staggering 1,500 megawatts of power, the site is considered a prime candidate for next-generation data infrastructure. Among the investors in the deal is Silicon Valley heavyweight Chamath Palihapitiya, who joined forces with Verma-Lallian and other stakeholders to secure the expansive property.

This isn’t Verma-Lallian’s first brush with high-profile headlines. In 2023, she made waves in Hollywood real estate circles by purchasing the Los Angeles home of late actor Matthew Perry. The lavish property, acquired for $8.55 million (Rs 71 crore), became the talk of social media after she performed a puja ceremony before moving in.

Verma-Lallian’s ascent in the real estate world has deep familial roots. Her father, Kuldeep Verma, an engineer, and her mother, Dr Binu Verma, a physician, immigrated to the United States from India and laid the foundation for the family’s business legacy by establishing ‘Vermaland’, a land banking company based in Arizona.

Inspired by her parents’ pioneering work, Anita carved her own path by launching Arizona Land Consulting. But her ambitions haven’t been limited to real estate alone. In 2023, she expanded her professional footprint by founding Camelback Productions, a film production house aiming to tell culturally resonant stories and spotlight underrepresented voices.

A graduate of the **University of Arizona** (Class of 2004), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Verma-Lallian later completed her **MBA from the University of Southern California**. Together with her sister **Jennifer**, she co-founded the **Verma Charitable Foundation**, an organization committed to education and cultural preservation. The foundation’s goals include providing scholarships to 100 students in India and establishing a cultural center in Phoenix to celebrate and share Indian heritage.

With her latest land deal, Verma-Lallian continues to bridge worlds — from Silicon Valley to Bollywood, from Arizona’s arid terrain to philanthropic missions in India — all while solidifying her status as one of the most dynamic Indian-American figures in real estate and beyond.
